Members of NYPD were recently featured on a segment of Good Morning America, and NYWLE Member Brittany Hawkrigg helped demonstrate how to "work out like a hero!" Brittany has been a longtime member of the NYPD Dragon Boat team, and on July 19th, she and some of her fellow NYPD athletes worked out in Times Square to promote health and wellness. Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory is seeking a motivated, independent, and hardworking individual for an opening as a Security Officer. The responsibilities of this individual would include guarding Laboratory property against fire, theft, and vandalism, as well as providing emergency assistance to laboratory staff and visitors. This individual would be acting as a representative of the laboratory’s administration outside of normal working hours, and maintaining a daily log of all activities and preparing incident reports to be turned in to the Security Director. This person would also be required to carry out other tasks as assigned to them by the Security Director.

These facilities include America’s busiest airport system, marine terminals and ports, the PATH rail transit system, six tunnels and bridges between New York and New Jersey, the Port Authority Bus Terminal in Manhattan, and the World Trade Center.

The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey seeks highly skilled and experienced law enforcement command professionals to fill the rank of Captain in its Port Authority Police Department.   The Port Authority is seeking candidates with strong law enforcement, leadership, command, and communication skills; labor relations experience; a history of successful partnerships with local, state, and federal agencies and other law enforcement jurisdictions; and a demonstrated, successful record of managing police personnel, resources and administration. The security functions of the Authority continue to be streamlined, centralized, and strengthened with the goal of increasing their effectiveness and efficiency. Any new police commanders hired pursuant to this search will become a critical element of leading this larger security transition in the Port Authority Police Department.

Leila Otis Promoted to Deputy Chief

Leila Otis received her official credentials as Stratton VA's new Deptury Chief of Police on May 18, 2018 in a "Pinning Ceremony" held in the lobby at the main entrance of the Albany Stratton VA Medical Center. The ceremony, common among military and police, recognizes the assumption of new rank and responsiblilites.  Leila Otis has been a proud member of New York Women in Law Enforcement since 2012.
