Lynette DelFavero - Syracuse Police Department

Deputy Chief Lynette DelFavero was promoted to her position as Uniform Bureau Deputy Chief on January 22nd, 2018 becoming only the second female to make the rank of Deputy Chief in the Syracuse Police Department. In this position, Deputy Chief DelFavero is responsible for overseeing the Patrol Division which is made up of the First, Second and Third Platoons, the Patrol Services Division (which includes the Special Events Section as well as the K9 Section), the Traffic Section and the Airport Section.

Previously as a Captain, Deputy Chief DelFavero served briefly as the Commanding Officer of the Human Resources Division. She also led the First Platoon Patrol Division as a Captain and served as the Southwest District Captain in the City of Syracuse. Deputy Chief DelFavero was the Field Training Coordinator managing the daily operation of the FTO program for the Syracuse Police Department. As a Lieutenant, she was the Commanding Officer of the Crime Reduction Team (a street level crime suppression team). She also served as the Commander in charge of Community Relations, the Recruitment Section and the DARE program.

Captain DelFavero also serves on the Board of Directors for Vera House, a local Domestic Violence shelter, counselling, education and advocacy center. She previously served on the Board of Directors for the PBA until her last promotion. She holds a B.S. in Sports in Exercise Science and a Master’s Degree in Public Administration. She is currently certified by American Council on Exercise as a Personal Trainer. She was also a Division I basketball player at the University at Buffalo and a Division I Basketball coach at Niagara University.
